Across the Ocean in Search of Sound: An American Guitar Craftsman’s Chinese Guitar Dream | Zheng'an County, in the mountainous region of southwest China's Guizhou Province, has evolved into the world's most complete and largest-scale guitar manufacturing cluster. Every year, millions of guitars made here are shipped to more than 40 countries and regions worldwide. Remarkably, one out of every seven guitars sold globally originates from Zheng'an. In 2022, American Guitar Craftsman Kurt Hendrick relocated his workshop to Zheng'an. With over four decades of guitar design and making experience, Hendrick had already spent 12 years in China pursuing his tonal ideal before settling in Zheng'an. It was here that he finally found the desire to “put down roots”.
