On April 25, 2026, the “Overseas Chinese Boost Global Reach” Asia-Europe Matchmaking Conference was successfully held at the Potential Sheraton Hotel in Dadukou District, Chongqing. The conference was sponsored by the Chongqing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (CFROC) and the People’s Government of Dadukou District, organized by the Dadukou District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Chongqing Overseas Chinese Service Center, and Huaqiao University Chongqing Alumni Association, and co-organized by the Chongqing Chamber of Commerce for Overseas Chinese and the Chongqing Federation of Young Overseas Chinese. As one of the supporting events of the second “Belt and Road” Overseas Chinese Cooperation and Development Conference, the event aimed to build a high‑level international exchange and cooperation platform, facilitate Chongqing enterprises to “go global as a group”, and deepen their integration into the Belt and Road Initiative, exploring new opportunities in Asian and European markets.
Meng Weihong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairperson of the Chongqing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and also Vice Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Wang Tao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Dadukou District Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, attended and addressed the conference. Other distinguished guests included Guan Yifan, former Party Secretary of Huaqiao University and President of the Huaqiao University Alumni Association; Wang Xiuyong, Vice President of Huaqiao University; Luo Qiang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairperson of the CFROC; Wang Xihui, Deputy Head of Dadukou District Government and Chairperson of the Jiusan Society District Committee; and Tan Shuming, Vice Chairperson of the Dadukou District Political Consultative Conference. Nearly 180 participants took part, including Huaqiao University alumni from home and abroad, members of the Chongqing University Overseas Chinese Federation Alliance, elite representatives of Chongqing enterprises, and heads of relevant municipal departments. The conference was moderated by Mou Tong, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Secretary‑General of the CFROC. After the conference, the inauguration ceremony of the new leadership of the Huaqiao University Chongqing Alumni Association was held.In her address, Meng Weihong extended warm congratulations on the successful convening of the event. She noted that overseas Chinese are natural bridges connecting China with the world and unique resources for opening up. As Chongqing accelerates the construction of an inland opening‑up highland and a Western China international exchange center, the CFROC is actively smoothing two‑way domestic and international channels. She expressed the hope that government, enterprises, universities and overseas Chinese communities would take this event as a new starting point to integrate various resources, promote deep connections between government and enterprises, between industry, academia and research, and between domestic and international players, jointly charting the course for going global and seizing opportunities in Asian and European markets. She reaffirmed that the CFROC would always act as a “family supporter” for overseas Chinese, a “service provider” for enterprises going global, and a “liaison officer” for domestic‑international cooperation, continuously promoting “overseas Chinese‑enabled global expansion” and helping more Chongqing enterprises and products reach the world market.
This matchmaking conference represented a concrete implementation of the China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese’s “Overseas Chinese Help Thousands of Enterprises and Ten Thousand Products Go Global” initiative, and another innovative exploration of the deeply integrated mechanism of “local federation + university federation + alumni association”. The conference focused on four dimensions – investment promotion, project cooperation, going‑global pathways, and market insights – adopting a pragmatic mix of thematic presentations, experience sharing, needs‑matching sessions, and product exhibitions to facilitate precise alignment between Chongqing enterprises and overseas resources.

During the thematic “Overseas Chinese Boost Global Reach” presentation session, Dadukou District introduced its investment environment and regional development advantages. Representatives from the College of Artificial Intelligence of Southwest University, the Asia‑America‑Europe Cultural Exchange Center, Chongqing Zhongzhu Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., and other universities and overseas Chinese‑funded enterprises showcased their technological strengths, international cooperation intentions, and practical experiences in going global. A representative of the Liuyishou brand shared the brand’s journey of breaking through in global markets, offering valuable lessons to participating enterprises. Overseas alumni of Huaqiao University provided in‑depth analyses of economic and trade cooperation prospects and investment opportunities in Asian and European markets based on their host countries’ conditions. A “two‑way list” of alumni association needs and opportunities was also released, further promoting information sharing and resource matching.
During the conference, overseas guests and representatives from relevant Chongqing municipal departments and local enterprises conducted two‑way matchmaking exchanges. A total of 25 enterprises from eight districts/counties and three universities presented more than 200 products with distinctive advantages, showcasing the competitiveness and going‑global potential of “Made in Chongqing” in fields ranging from intelligent manufacturing and green environmental protection to agro‑processing and cultural creativity.
On the morning of April 26, some overseas alumni of Huaqiao University will visit key enterprises in Dadukou District to facilitate the implementation of project cooperation intentions.
The conference, with its clear theme, practical content, and fruitful results, marks another successful practice of the “local federation + university federation + alumni association” collaborative mechanism, injecting new momentum driven by overseas Chinese into the efforts of Chongqing enterprises to explore Asian and European markets and deeply integrate into the high‑quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
